Died Due To Refusing Blood Transfusion
by rrb2016 inwell, last monday my mother, a jehovah's witness since her baptism in 1968 died last week because she would not accept a blood transfusion.
she was 76 and had lung and skin cancer.
i know that the cancer would have gotten her anyway, but she was bleeding internally, and was told that she needs a blood transfusion, as her blood count went all the way down to 3.2 (should be 12-14.

"The Bunker" WT Conventions 2016 (Gag Me)
by Poztate inin the very near future the gang will be down in a bunker, cellar awaiting the police, military to break in and take them away to camps or executions .
(paranoid much) this is the foretold "prophecy" of the governments turning on religion and saving them for last.since the couple portrayed as simplifying their life by getting rid of a lot of material things is shown to be (about) the same age in the bunker we know it must be any minute now that it will happen.
i have been out for over 35 years and things seem to be getting more bizarre each year.. when did this doctrine really become main stream?

thought I was the only one that had nightmares about being tortured during the GT! I remember being about 10 and thinking that the military would just come bursting in one day during the meeting.
I think the good thing with the videos are that kids are so conditioned to view everything as a TV show/movie and not real that this may not have much of an effect on them. The adults on the other hand will eat this up.

I'm getting baptized
by BlackWolf ini know i've started similar topics before but this time i'm serious.
my parents have been constantly pressuring me and after yesterday's watchtower study they asked me if i was going to be baptized this summer... and i said yes.
i probably should have thought about it more before making a final decision, but they're pretty much forcing me to do it anyway.

Wow, what a great response. Even if you don't wake him up, at least maybe he'll back off a bit. I'd suggest you take each topic you want to discuss and outline it with your thoughts. Maybe post them here and the board can give you specifics thoughts. -

So the one report says their family didn't ask for it? How bizarre is that? This thing is taking some crazy turns. I've never heard (JW or not) of a funeral being held that the family didn't want. Weird. -

Another generation....
by joey jojo init has been 21 years since the 1995 article that pretty much buried the idea of the '1914 generation'.. remember those guys?
the ones born in 1914 that would still be alive when the end of the system arrived.. i'm glad i'm old enough to remember going from door to door, preaching this belief.
the reason i say that is because i have a lot of 'still in' jw friends and family.

TD - I think you are attempting to apply logic to a theology that's not logical.
JWs/WT = the visible or earthly part of Jehovah's organization is the only theology that matters to the average JW. Everything else is simply noise.
Of course, there are some that try to delve into theological type of thinking but honestly those people are few and far between in my experience. And the ones that do are often viewed suspiciously.
I honestly don't understand Fisherman's argument either. Fisherman, if you are a JW, TD offered the official explanation. There is a resurrection of the righteous and unrighteous. After the Thousand Year Reign is up, there's a final test and Judgement Day is at the end. Everyone alive is judged on whether they followed Satan and the demons once set free from the abyss. If you pass (twice if you live through Armageddon) the final test, then you are home free. If not, you are destroyed forever along with Satan & the demons. And the petting of pandas can continue! Come on, you know that's the teaching! Seriously there is no way that you could be a JW for any length of time and not know that.

That's great advice Talesin! DW - the unfortunate reality of being a minor in a cult is that your parents likely will put the cult over you. It's their cult personality that is blinding them. I'm sure deep down they are good people who think pushing you into baptism is the right thing to do.
This is a marathon not a sprint. Yes, the next few years will suck as you try to keep the peace but as Talesin said, focus on the future.
The other reality that you'll likely need to face is that your parents will likely shun you the same whether you get baptized and leave or if you simply don't get baptized and leave. There's a chance they would get over it in time if you don't get baptized but you should prepare yourself for that reality.

Thankful for my babies

so i was just reflecting on how happy i am to have my babies, despite the orgs.
not so subtle requests that married couples not have babies in order to further serve the org.

DY - the problem is that if you are a true believer, you don't get to pick and choose. I know that when I was first married, I was convinced that the end was right around the corner and "woe to the pregnant woman during that time" and was against having children. Fortunately, my wife had other plans! And, having the responsibility of being a father is one of the best jobs I've ever had.
I think that as time moves on, more and more JWs are picking and choosing which things to obey and there is less stigma around some of those choices. The harder the GB pushes, the more the average JW tunes them out.
